Like a lot of people, I have sweet tooth … I hate to admit it, but the problem is that I’m the only one of our 4, that has this problem. So, if I want to make a desert or even some cookies and I want all 4 of us to eat some, it has to be a healthy desert. I don’t have much choice, if I don’t want to eat them all myself… and that is really not a good thing. ; -)
But, this wasn’t always the case. Approximatelty10 years ago, Dan decided to change lifestyle. He started to exercise, eat less and healthier. Briefly, he took back control of his health. He lost 40 pounds in a few months. Since then he continues to train, eats very well and he is in better shape (in his early forties) than he has ever been.
Since he pays attention to what he eats, it has had a positive influence on the rest of the family. Aggy and Alexy also take care of their health by watching what they eat and exercise.
On the other hand, I find it harder. I don’t have the same fortitude and determination. But I’m working on it.
I had to find some healthy recipes. When it comes to the daily meals, it’s quite easy. You peruse the web and there are plenty of recipes that comes up… As for desserts and cookies it’s a lot more difficult.
The two most important requirements are: no sugar and the lowest possible fat content. I have done a lot of research on the internet. I did find some, but they did not pass the test… Either they were to dry or they did not have any taste.
Mrs. Labriski’s cookies
Then I heard about Mrs. Labriski and her recipe book of healthy cookies: the cookies everyone was talking about. Unfortunately the book is only available in french. (Affiliated links)
As well as having no fat, they are sweetened with date purée. But more to the point… they are de-li-cious. They are tasty, soft and good for your health. And there are even a few that come in a vegan option.
Mariane Labrie created the peronage of Mrs. Lasbriski and she is a little –off the cuff. She is a little bit unconventional (you see her on You Tube). Her originality can be seen by the names given to her cookies: Mrs. Antoinette, Muscular Peanut, Save yourself Cinderella, and my favorite – The Ayoyski.
To make it easier, the book is separated in sections; protein and deserts, ones before, during and after training… The recipes are simple and, for the vast majority, they contain ingredients that we already have on hand.
So, if you are like us and you are watching what you eat and are having a hard time finding healthy cookies/desserts recipes, or if you want to change your eating habits without feeling deprived, I highly recommend trying Mme Labriski’s cookies. I’m sure that you will love them!!!
Your turn now. Do you have some good/healthy cookies/desserts recipes? Are you like me and have a sweet tooth?
